The Espresso martini or vodka espresso is a timeless cocktail full of personality; technically not a martini at all since it does not contain vermouth or gin. Regardless, delicious when done right.
Credited to Dick Bradsell, a globally influential British bartender, the espresso martini was created in the late 1980's and became popular in the 1990's when a wave of drinks were created with martini in the name; think appletini.
Like most coffee drinks the Espresso Martini is adaptable to anyone's taste. Vodka can be swapped for basically any liquor and flavored syrups can be used to achieve the perfect cocktail for a themed event. The texture can also be tweaked by adding a dash of cream or cream liqueur.
The Espresso Martini is the perfect balance of playful and sophistication ready for your customizations to suit your taste or occasion.
Our Perfect Espresso Martini:
Fill a shaker (a mason jar will also work) with ice and combine measured out pours of Ketel One vodka, Mr. Black coffee liqueur, and vanilla simple syrup (If unable to do homemade Torani Vanilla will do). Pull a double shot of Esprimere and immediately add to shaker and shake for about 15 seconds. Pour into a chilled martini glass and top with three coffee beans; one for health, one for wealth, and one for happiness. Cheers!
